Background
About Me
I am a graphic and web designer with a strong pre-press and web background. I began as an intern in a design firm in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and went on to run their pre-press department within a year. During that time I studied under the owner/creative director as a junior designer. I then went back and forth between a leading Santa Fe real estate brokerage and the award-winning advertising department at the local newspaper, The Santa Fe New Mexican. Within the last several years I have focused on web design, CSS and (X)HTML. And more recently I’ve begun teaching myself PHP, utilizing content management systems and expanding my knowledge of web standards. I am currently attending The Art Institute of Pittsburgh’s Online Division for Web Design & Interactive Media. I strive to create clear and creative design solutions for just about any client or purpose and love challenges. I believe firmly in design and the science and technology behind it, but aspire to integrate art and creativity to come up with effective designs for print and web.
Personally, I love life, and that pretty much sums it up. I love the outdoors, yoga, hiking, camping, mountain biking, fly fishing, free diving, scuba diving, barbecuing, hanging out with friends and family, dancing, laying around on a beach and fresh air in general. I also love technology, new software, CS4, CODA, WordPress, school, fast computers, my Mac, my iPhone, big TVs, Nintendo Wii, design books, design magazines and much more.
Goals
Some of my career goals include:
- Continue to learn, grow, and never stop feeding my brain and heart with new design trends and technology (after all, this is one of the things I do with my life)
- Submitting for – and winning – design awards (because that always gives you warm fuzzy feeling inside)
- Designing, or redesigning, a magazine or publication (I absolutely love typography and publication design is one of the best places to utilize this love and skill)
- Perhaps own and operate my own web design and interactive media firm someday (I just want to be the top dog sometime)
- See Jetworks Corporation, one of my longest and fondest clients, dominate their market and succeed beyond imagination =)
- Empower my clients to make better design decisions on their own, and educate them to the importance and inherit benefit of good design
- Successfully freelance full-time while traveling abroad and utilize my PayPal account to it’s fullest potential (just me, my laptop, my PayPal card and the road ahead)
- Many, many more…
